CaixaForum Palma presents Cántico. Lo profundo es el aire, a new exhibition by Mallorcan artist Ñaco Fabré exploring time, memory and contemplation through painting, sculpture and works on paper. Open until 24 January 2027, this Art Event Palma brings together different parts of Fabré’s practice in a show centred on slowing down and taking time to look.
Born in Palma in 1965, Fabré studied at the city’s School of Arts and Crafts before spending time in Venice, London and Paris. Since his first solo exhibition in 1991, his work has developed around geometric abstraction, colour and material, and has appeared at international contemporary art fairs and in collections including the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró Mallorca.
The exhibition takes its title from a verse in Más allá, a poem from Jorge Guillén’s Cántico. Fabré uses the idea of air, space and breathing as a starting point for works in which lines, planes of colour, shadows and the spaces between forms become as important as the objects themselves.
Curated by Raquel Victoria Rodríguez López, the Art Event Palma reflects on the speed and visual overload of contemporary life. Rather than treating geometry as something rigid, Fabré uses it to create space for perception and contemplation, connecting the exhibition with themes of memory, passing time and the creative process.
Cántico. Lo profundo es el aire is organised by Fundación ”la Caixa” in collaboration with Es Baluard Museu d’Art Contemporani de Palma. It forms part of the city’s autumn cultural programme and adds another major contemporary exhibition to the calendar of Art Events Mallorca.
The exhibition opened around Palma’s Nit de l’Art celebrations and remains at CaixaForum throughout autumn and into January. This longer run makes the Art Event Palma accessible seven days a week, with daily opening hours from 10:00 to 20:00. Admission to this particular exhibition is free.
