CineCiutat in Palma de Mallorca presents Writing Hawa, a documentary by Najiba Noori and Rasul Noori screening as part of its international cinema programme.

The film follows Hawa, a 52-year-old Hazara woman navigating profound personal transformation after an arranged marriage. As she pursues education and builds a textile business, her life — like that of many in Afghanistan — is upended by the return of the Taliban in 2021. Through Hawa’s story, the documentary explores themes of resilience, identity and self-emancipation against the backdrop of shifting political and cultural realities.
