Film Festival Palma: Colònya Palma Muntanya
Teatre Principal de Palma

Description
Teatre Principal de Palma hosts the closing ceremony of the 17th Colònya Palma Muntanya Film Fest on Tuesday, 27 October 2026, at 19:00. This Filmfestival Palma event marks the conclusion of nine days dedicated to mountain cinema, adventure, exploration and documentary filmmaking, with an awards presentation and a screening of Hatua by filmmaker Eduard Cabalín Manresa.
Running from 19 to 27 October, the Colònya Palma Muntanya Film Fest brings together films exploring the relationship between people and the natural world. The festival focuses on mountain landscapes, outdoor adventure, climbing, exploration and the personal stories behind extraordinary journeys.
The closing evening centres on the presentation of the festival’s 2026 awards, recognising selected films and filmmakers from this year’s programme. The ceremony provides a final opportunity to celebrate the documentary productions featured during the festival and the creative work involved in bringing stories of adventure and exploration to the screen.
The programme also features Hatua, a documentary by Eduard Cabalín Manresa following Mallorcan athlete Mix Manresa, who has paraplegia, as he attempts to reach the 5,895-metre summit of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania using an adapted bicycle.
The 60-minute film documents his preparations in Mallorca and Sierra Nevada, the expedition itself and the specialist medical support involved. Through this personal journey, Hatua explores determination, physical challenges and the collaboration required to undertake an ambitious mountain expedition.
Over its 17 editions, the festival has established itself as a cultural event in Palma, combining cinema with subjects ranging from mountaineering and environmental awareness to travel and personal achievement. Its screenings offer perspectives on landscapes and communities that are often far removed from conventional cinema settings.
For audiences interested in Art Events Mallorca and documentary film, the festival connects visual storytelling with contemporary environmental and cultural themes. It also contributes to Palma’s autumn film calendar, alongside other independent cinema programmes and cultural events taking place across the island.
The closing ceremony at Teatre Principal will be presented by Neus Albis, with the awards presentation and the screening of Hatua bringing the 2026 edition of Colònya Palma Muntanya Film Fest to an end.
