Destape and Dos Rombos at Terreno Barrio Hotel host an evening of Flamenco Palma on Wednesday, 30 September, led by singer Maribel “La Canija”. The programme is split into two performances, beginning with singing at Destape at 20:30 before moving to Dos Rombos at 22:00 for a second set combining live vocals, flamenco guitar and dance.
Maribel “La Canija”, born Maribel Martín, has been performing professionally for more than two decades. Originally from Terrassa and based in Mallorca since 2015, she began her career as the singer of D’Callaos, whose sound mixed flamenco and Andalusian rock with contemporary influences. Her career has also included collaborations with artists such as Peret, Chambao, La Pegatina, Muchachito and Amparanoia, while her solo work has taken her further into flamenco and Mediterranean sounds.
The first performance begins at 20:30 at Destape and focuses on La Canija’s voice. Destape is the restaurant inside Terreno Barrio Hotel, with a kitchen centred on Mediterranean cooking, Mallorcan produce and seasonal ingredients. This makes the opening set a natural crossover between Flamenco Palma and the more gastronomic side of Food Events Palma.
At 22:00, the evening continues downstairs at Dos Rombos. La Canija is joined by Silvia Fernández “La Chispa” on dance and Gaizka Baena on flamenco guitar, expanding the second performance into a complete flamenco show. Baena has also played an important role in La Canija’s solo career since her move to Mallorca, working with her as guitarist and producer.
The two-stage format gives this Mallorca event a slightly different character from a conventional concert: an early vocal performance over dinner followed by a later show built around cante, baile and guitarra. It sits comfortably among Music Events Mallorca while bringing traditional flamenco into one of El Terreno’s newer cultural and nightlife spaces.
