La Quijá (Paloma Muñoz)

Description

La Quijá, a contemporary dance work by Spanish choreographer Paloma Muñoz, is presented at Teatre Principal in Palma de Mallorca as part of the theatre’s performance programme.

Inspired by the Extremaduran landscape of Muñoz’s childhood, La Quijá explores themes of memory, resonance and the body’s deeper energies. The piece draws its name from the jawbone of animals and uses movement to evoke a journey inward, into the substance of the bones and the echoes that inhabit them. Rather than conventional narrative, the choreography creates a resonance between past and present, inviting reflection on shared roots and collective experience through physical expression and visual language. The performance situates itself within contemporary dance tradition, merging stillness and intensity across its duration.
